Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the Vegetables

    • Thoroughly wash all the vegetables under fresh running water and let them dry.
    • Shredd the cabbage using a sharp knife or a mandoline. 
    • Julienne the carrots and slice the bell pepper, onion and, green onions. 
    • Thinly slice or dice the scotch bonnet peppers. 
    Wear gloves while slicing the scotch bonnet peppers to avoid irritation. Remove the seed if you want less spicy.
  2. 2. Assemble the Pikliz

    • Combine all the prepared vegetables and add minced garlic and thyme. Mix well to combine.
  3. 3. Make the Pickling Liquid

    • In a small saucepan, add white vinegar and heat until warm on low flame. Do not boil the vinegar. 
    • Add kosher salt, black pepper, and optional sugar and mix until dissolved. 
  4. 4. Combine and Store
